WELCOME TO THE
HEALTH & MEDICAL PROFESSIONS
PREPARATION PROGRAM (HMP3)

The UCSD Health and Medical Professions Preparation Program (HMP3) provides undergraduates with enriching experiences that will enhance their preparation for admission into professional school in the medical and other health professions. Through collaborations with the UCSD School of Medicine, faculty, community health care providers and others, HMP3 provides members with stimulating experiences designed to expand the mind and increase qualifications for entry into the health professions. HMP3 also guides members to other campus resources available to pre-health professions students.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Membership in HMP3 is available to all UCSD undergraduates interested in careers in the health professions, such as medicine, dentistry, public health, pharmacy, physical therapy and many more.  To enroll, simply complete our online form: Online Registration Form. Alternatively, you may complete this enrollment form and deliver it to Student Center Building B, 2nd Floor East.  Once enrolled you will remain in the program throughout your time at UCSD (unless you ask to be removed.)

Check out our student-run website to find out what HMP3 is all about: hmp3.ucsd.edu

RESOURCES:

  • HEALTH PROFESSIONS MENTOR PROGRAM - The Health Professions Mentor Program (HPMP) provides an inside look at the student's desired profession, plus the opportunity to develop a relationship with a professional mentor in the field.  UCSD undergraduate participants are paired with health care professionals in their field of choice, gaining invaluable experience designed to make them more competitive in the application process.
Applications open in February, with the mentorship continuing to the end of school in June.  Priority is given to junior and senior level students, and the number of mentors is limited.
  • PRE-PROFESSIONAL SEMINARS -HMP3 offers a variety of Pre-Professional Seminars designed to provide insight into the health professions, to stimulate further exploration of the field and to encourage thoughtful decision-making.  Speakers include practicing health professionals in a variety of fields, medical school faculty, current medical students and test preparation experts.  HMP3 members will receive e-mail notification of upcoming seminars.
  • • TEST PREP SCHOLARSHIPS- HMP3 members may apply for scholarships for entrance exam prep courses offered through KAPLAN and the Princeton Review. Priority consideration is given to HMP3 members with demonstrated financial need. Scholarships are awarded during the fall and spring quarters. To apply, complete an application and deliver it to Student Center Building B, 2nd Floor East. Applications are available in September and April.
